Vibrant Miami, FL played host for WCA eCommerce's first ever annual conference where delegates enjoyed two full days of networking, educational workshop sessions, cocktail receptions and more.
The conference commenced with a low-key cocktail reception where delegates, both new and seasoned, in eCommerce logistics connected to share expertise about the future of freight forwarding. The first full day began with a strong Plenary Session lead by Alex Allen, director of WCA eCommerce and WCA CEO Dan March, who highlighted member benefits, industry changes and network expectations. Dan and Alex were also joined by Chris Smith, CEO of BuyTasker, for a brief introduction into a procurement solution that WCA eCommerce members may find useful as the network continues to grow.
Chris Folayan, CEO of Mall for Africa, one of WCA eCommerce's first official eTailers, gave a very insightful presentation on how Mall for Africa works. He explained the company's supply chain process and answered many questions delegates had about the platform and the different challenges that eTailers face.
The main draw of the conference were the many informative workshops presented by WCA eCommerce members. Topics included EU VAT, challenges and learnings of the industry, how to add value to your eCommerce division and much more. WCA is incredibly thankful to have such great thought leaders within the group. The success of the inaugural conference was very much due to its members who volunteered to present on critical topics.
Due to the early adopters and high member participation, WCA eCommerce drew a crowd much larger than what was originally expected. WCA eCommerce will also be in attendance at this year's 14th Annual SINO International Freight Forwarders Conference November 13th - 16th in Shanghai, China.
